BRAND NEW LOOK FOR GONUBIE
Gonubies bus shelter, which was destroyed a few years ago by strong winds has been given a makeover by the Rotary Club of Gonubie.
The Rotary Club of Gonubie felt strongly about giving back to the community. The shelter which is situated on Gonubie main road, began rusting a few years ago and was later ripped apart by strong winds. The shelter cost the club in region of R12,000 is made of galvanised iron, which willhelp it stand up to the tests of time and nature.
Rotary Club of Gonubie got involved because the run down shelter had become and "eyesore" and was a danger to those who wiated for transport in its vicinity. The club then approached Buffalo City Municipality which gave them permission to go ahead with reconstructing the shelter, although buses do not stop in Gonubie, the shelter was used as a taxi rank, transporting people to and from the suburb.
As a service club we are proud to provide for people of our community.

POLIO PLUS – A ROTARY INTERNATIONAL SPECIAL PROJECT
Over the past twenty years, Rotary Club members have helped immunize over two billion children against polio. Thanks to them, the world will soon be polio – free.
In 1985, Rotary launched the PolioPlus programme to protect children worldwide from the cruel and fatal consequences of polio. In the early 1980’s, Rotary began planning for the most ambitious programme in its history – to immunize all of the world’s children against polio. The plan required collaboration with international, national, and local health agencies. With the advice and support of the late Dr Albert Sabin, developer of the oral polio vaccine, Rotary established its PolioPlus programme in 1985.
